# Your Account

> How to sign in to Fiber and manage your account, including verification codes, SMS problems, Fibertag accounts and passwords, email and phone changes, residency, multiple accounts, settings, and deleting your account.

Most account settings live in two places. Tap your name at the top of Home to open the account menu: your accounts, **Add Account**, **History**, **Account details**, **Refer & earn**, **Settings**, and **Chat with assistant**. On the web, use **Settings** in the sidebar or account menu.

## Signing in

There are three ways in:

- **Continue with phone**: Fiber texts you a 6-digit code.
- **Continue with email**: Fiber emails you a 6-digit code. It expires after 5 minutes.
- **Sign in or create a Fibertag account**: a username and password. There's no code.

There's no separate sign-up step. Entering a code for an email or phone that isn't on an account yet creates one.

If you didn't get a code, the **Resend** button unlocks after 30 seconds. Check that the number includes the right country code, and check your spam folder for email codes. An expired or already-used code shows as an invalid code. Request a new one.

### When SMS codes don't arrive

- **"We can't send SMS codes to this number right now. Continue with email instead."** Fiber can't send SMS codes to numbers in some countries. On the web, this shows as "SMS verification is unavailable for this phone number," or as `SMS_OTP_COUNTRY_BLOCKED` in Settings. Go back and choose **Continue with email**.
- **The code never arrives, or adding a phone fails with `phone_verification_send_failed`.** The text message provider couldn't deliver the code. Wait a minute, check the number, and try again. If it keeps failing, sign in with email and ask support for help.

A verified phone number isn't required to open an account. You do need one for the [$25 deposit bonus](/bonus-and-referrals) and [US bank details](/virtual-accounts). Friends you refer need one too. If codes can't reach your number, tell support so they can look into it.

### Fibertag accounts and passwords

A Fibertag account signs in with your Fibertag as the username and a password. The password needs at least 12 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol.

There is no way to change or reset a password. If you forget it, sign in with a verified email or phone on the account. Add a verified email or phone to a Fibertag account so you always have a way back in.

Changing your Fibertag also changes the username you sign in with.

## Your Fibertag

Your Fibertag is your public @handle. Other Fiber users find you and send you money with it. Change it in **Account details** on mobile, or **Settings > Account > Fibertag** on the web.

## Email and phone number

Add or change them in **Account details** (web: **Settings > Account**). Fiber sends a 6-digit code to confirm the new address or number.

- An email or phone number can belong to only one Fiber account.
- If a phone number is already on another account, Fiber says "We couldn't add this phone number. Please contact support." It doesn't say why, so nobody can use this screen to check whether a number has an account. A temporary verification failure shows the same message.
- If an email is already on another account, Fiber tells you.

**Settings > Privacy settings** controls whether people can find you by your phone number or email.

## Country of residence

Your country of residence decides which features you can use, such as tokenized stocks and US bank details. Fiber picks it in this order:

1. The country from your approved identity verification
2. Your verified phone number's country
3. The country you selected
4. Your current location

To change it, open **Account details > Residency > Change**, pick your country, and tap **Save residency**. On the web, it's **Settings > Account > Residency**. You can change your selection once every 7 days. Your selection can't override a country that comes from identity verification or a verified phone.

## Multiple accounts

You can be signed in to up to five accounts on one phone or browser. Open the account menu and tap **Add Account** to add one. Tap an account to switch to it.

**Sign out** in **Settings > Security** asks how to sign out:

- **Sign out from current account** signs out the one you're using and switches to another signed-in account.
- **Sign out from all accounts** signs out every account on this device.

## Settings

In **Settings** you'll also find:

- **Statements**: monthly PDF statements. See [Activity & Statements](/activity).
- **Notification settings**: push and email choices for each kind of update.
- **Spam**: tokens hidden from your balances. See [Deposits](/deposits#spam-inbox).
- **Language**: English, Español, or Français, for the app and the notifications we send.
- **Appearance**: System, Always light, or Always dark.
- **Assistant**: the assistant's memory. See [Assistant & Support](/support).
- **Feedback**: report a bug or suggest an idea.
- **Security**: App Lock, passkeys, devices, wallet backup, and account deletion. See [Account Security](/account-security).

## Deleting your account

**Before you delete, send or withdraw your balance.** After deletion, you can't open that wallet in Fiber again. Your backup recovers the keys to your public addresses, but Fiber's recovery tools can't move your private balance.

**Settings > Security > Delete account** walks you through it:

1. Set a password for an encrypted backup of your wallet. It must be at least 12 characters.
2. Confirm it's you, then save the backup file.
3. Choose that saved file again so Fiber can check you kept the right one.
4. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting your account signs you out everywhere and frees your email, phone number, and Fibertag for reuse. It doesn't move your assets. Anything you leave behind stays in that wallet. With the backup file and its password, you can recover the keys to its public addresses. See [Recovery Tools](/recovery). A new account gets a different wallet.
