Privacy

Fiber treats privacy as the default path for deposits, transfers, swaps, and yield — not as an advanced mode you have to discover.

On a public chain, a wallet address is a diary. Fiber’s job is to keep your financial life from becoming one.

The privacy engine is built on Railgun on Ethereum. Incoming and outgoing funds are designed to be private by default. The rest of this page is the concrete shape of that claim.

Private deposits

Every deposit into your private wallet uses a one-time address derived from your master seed. Those addresses are segregated, so an observer watching the public chain does not get a clean map from “funds arrived” to “this is the same person again.”

Funds then sweep into your private wallet address — a 0zk address — where the balance lives shielded.

Private transfers

Transfers between Fiber users use Railgun private transfers natively.

Transfers out work differently, because your counterparty may not be on Fiber. In that case Fiber sends through a one-time address. The recipient still gets paid. The public trail still does not hand them a permanent pointer back into your private balance history.

Private swaps

When you buy an asset such as gold or silver, Fiber:

  1. uses a one-time address to unshield USD
  2. executes the swap
  3. shields the purchased asset back into Railgun

The swap is real. The “this wallet bought that asset” story is not meant to be publicly reconstructable.

Private yield

If yield is enabled, stablecoins can be deposited into a Morpho vault with exposure limited to BTC/ETH lending. The vault shares are then shielded back to your private wallet address.

Yield without a public balance billboard is the feature. The underlying protocol risk still exists — privacy does not invent return, and it does not delete smart contract risk. See Built-in yield.

What privacy does not mean

Privacy here means observers should not be able to casually read your balances, counterparties, and history from public chain data.

It does not mean:

  • Fiber can violate physics and hide a transfer from the recipient
  • every chain and every custom token has identical privacy depth today
  • you can ignore local law because a balance is shielded

Support varies by asset and network. When a flow needs extra preparation, the app surfaces that as deposit or activation time — not as a silent failure. See Supported chains.
