Virtual Accounts
Virtual Accounts are an optional service provided through Rain and integrated into Fiber.
They give eligible users access to supported fiat payment rails for moving money into and out of Fiber. Fiat deposits are processed by Rain, converted into supported stablecoins, and delivered to the user’s Fiber account. Stablecoins can similarly be converted back into fiat for withdrawal through supported payment methods.
How Virtual Accounts Work
After completing identity verification, eligible users may receive fiat payment details, such as an account number, routing information, or other supported payment instructions.
These details can be used for two main purposes:
- Adding funds to Fiber: Rain receives supported fiat funds, converts them into an eligible stablecoin, and deposits the stablecoins into your Fiber account.
- Withdrawing from Fiber: Rain converts supported stablecoins into fiat and sends the resulting funds through an available payment rail to your designated account.
Rain handles the fiat-to-stablecoin and stablecoin-to-fiat conversion process. Fiber handles the supported digital assets once they are delivered to or sent from your Fiber account.
You do not need to manually convert funds, choose a blockchain network, or manage the underlying onchain routing.
A Virtual Account provides payment details used to facilitate supported fiat transfers. It does not create a separate stored-value balance within Fiber.
Supported Currencies and Payment Methods
Available currencies, payment rails, transfer types, and processing times depend on factors including:
- Your eligibility
- Your jurisdiction
- The selected currency and payment method
- Available payment providers
- Applicable compliance requirements
Available payment methods will be shown directly in Fiber.
Always follow the exact payment details and instructions provided. Using an unsupported currency, payment method, or incorrect payment information may cause a transfer to be delayed, rejected, or returned.
Receiving and Withdrawing Funds
Depending on availability, Virtual Accounts may support:
- Fiat deposits from an account you own
- Permitted payments from third parties
- Fiat-to-stablecoin deposits
- Stablecoin-to-fiat withdrawals
Supported transfer types may vary based on your eligibility and jurisdiction. Virtual Account details should only be used for the purposes indicated in Fiber.
Eligibility and Identity Verification
Virtual Accounts require identity verification and are subject to eligibility and compliance requirements.
Rain or its service providers may request additional information about your identity, source of funds, the purpose of a transfer, or the accounts involved.
Additional review may sometimes be required before a transaction can be completed.
Processing Times and Transaction Status
Processing times depend on the currency, payment rail, banking hours, compliance review, and service-provider availability.
Transfers may sometimes be delayed, rejected, returned, or subject to transaction limits or additional review.
Review all payment details carefully before initiating a transfer and contact Fiber support if you notice an incorrect or unauthorized transaction.
Fees and Limits
Fees and transaction limits depend on the available payment method and service providers.
Rain’s current terms state that Rain does not directly charge users for the Virtual Account service, although banks or other third parties may charge their own fees. Applicable fees and limits will be shown in Fiber where relevant.
Availability
Virtual Accounts are subject to eligibility and availability through Rain.
Supported currencies, payment rails, transfer types, stablecoins, limits, and other features may vary by jurisdiction and may change over time.
